Teaching Thoughts

I'm taking a class at Pac Rim Bible College called Creative Biblical Communication taught by Pastor Wayne. Just like any gift, the gift of teaching needs to be continually cultivated. A good teacher is a continuous learner. Here are some take-aways that I'm chewing over:

“Without spiritual leadership, the world will never be changed.” Agreed. It won't be the political, social or educational changes that make the greatest difference. It will be the spiritual changes and in order for that to happen we need good spiritual leadership.

“People are not tired of the gospel, they are tired of tired presentations of the Gospel.” Wayne said that you need to work hard to keep the Good News good news, you just don't want to give good talks. It takes a lot of skill and preparation to keep the message TRUTHFUL and RELEVANT. You can have a message that's truthful and irrelevant but people will be bored. You can have a message that's relevant and untruthful but there won't be any transformation. You need both TRUTH and RELEVANCE.
