Burnout/2000

During a season of burnout in 2000, I spent some time at New Hope Oahu. God used these two seasoned veterans, Larry Gillis and Dan Shima, to help in the restoration process. You could count on Pastor Larry to give you a great big hug and he really meant it. Dan Shima always had great ears and a great heart to listen and ask the right questions.

It was after this restoration process that God began to work on my heart for a new season of ministry...a season of teaching.

The Honolulu Advertiser recently had an article regarding the burnout that affects the pastoral occupation. Although you hate to see people like Pastor Wayne and Pastor Ralph go through emotional exhaustion, what it did was highlight the emotional side of pastors that wasn't talked about 10 years ago but is now being more fully addressed.
